Smalltalk 30th Anniversary Reunion in the Works

After doing extensive research, it’s been determined that there’s significant interest in a Smalltalk-80 30th Anniversary Reunion, which will be held in conjunction with the Smalltalk Industry Council’s annual conference (STIC 2013) on June 9-12, 2013 at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park (Phoenix), Arizona.

Georg Heeg of George Heeg eK made the unofficial announcement at the ESUG 20th International Smalltalk Joint Conference 2012 that was held on August 27-31 in Gent, Belgium.

According to Evelyn Van Orden, Director of Planning, a time and place for the official ST80-30 announcement is being determined, and possible volunteers are being contacted. She also tells us that one goal of the reunion is to “renew the kinship that was formed in the early 1980’s when Smalltalk-80 first left the ivory tower of PARC and landed at our doorsteps.”

Ideas and sponsors for the reunion are needed, and as new developments unfold, we will be sure to pass them along.

We look forward to this very special reunion!
